Auburn Pickleball Club Committee

  • Brandy Alvis | Chairperson

I started playing Pickleball with a group of friends about 2 years ago. The community of Auburn was so warm and welcoming. I joined in a few groups and soon joined the women’s ladder. I remain inspired by the many Pickleball friends I’v met. Iv seen the courts become so busy…. Almost every evening is full of players of all ages. That’s what I love most about Pickleball- its perfect for families and folks of all ages and physical fitness levels.

My motivation for starting this club is to help finance more courts- Auburn needs to keep up with the growth of the sport. It’s been proven that Pickleball is here to stay!

  • Barbara Fralick | Secretary

I love pickleball. I love the welcoming, fun loving, active pickleball community. My addiction began when I went to ARD to see what pickleball was all about. Although brand new to the game, I was enthusiastically pulled on the court and taught to play with smiles and encouragement. The indoor courts were marked by tape that was rolled up at the end of the session. There were no outdoor courts at Regional park. Cherry Dulaney led the way of collecting money and attending ARD meetings to convert two tennis courts into the six pickleball courts at Regional. Since 2015 the sport has grown steadily and exploded recently. We formed the Auburn Pickleball Club to address the current wants of our community. APC is a nonprofit 501c3 through ARD; 95% of the revenue goes to pickleball and 5% is the cost of the 501c3. Our collected resources will allow us to put money directly into all things pickleball.

  • Pam Porata | Ladder Liason

A friend of mine was playing on the ladies pickleball ladder, so I went out to Regional Park to see what it was all about. I was immediately welcomed into a wonderful group of women. I would show up after the ladder play was over to learn the game and practice. A few months in the gal that was running the ladder moved away and I ended up taking over the program and becoming the ladies ladder captain. Even though I was still new to the game I committed to taking it over because I was having so much fun playing, I did not want it to go away. I have been playing for a few years and have come to terms with the addiction I have to playing pickleball. I want to grow the ladies’ ladder and the Auburn Pickleball Club in hopes of having additional courts added in our wonderful community. Pickle On!!
